The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream appointment in social/personality psychology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence on July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Social or Personality Psychology or a closely related field with demonstrated expertise in statistics by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. We are looking for scholars in the field of social or personality psychology who demonstrate excellence in teaching and research, who show evidence of advanced statistical and methodological expertise, whose research program draws on multiple perspectives within psychology and connects across sub-disciplines, who complement our existing strengths (www.psych.utoronto.ca), and who work on psychological aspects of major social issues at the cutting edge of the discipline.

Excellence in research is evidenced primarily by the quality of published papers in top-ranked and field-relevant academic journals or forthcoming papers meeting high international standards, presentations at conferences, research awards and accolades, the submitted research statement, and strong endorsements by referees of top international stature. Evidence of excellence in teaching is based on strong letters of reference, teaching accomplishments and a teaching dossier containing a strong statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations and sample syllabi. Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars. Nominees should be within ten years of receiving their PhD. Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree (and where career breaks exist, such as maternity, parental or extended sick leave, clinical training, etc.) may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 chair assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process.
