University of Toronto (U of T) - AUP Review Process
Once an AUP is submitted online through My Research Animal Protocols (MRAP), it is reviewed by the Local Animal Care Committee (LACC) at the next scheduled LACC meeting. At the meeting, the LACC decides if any additional information needs to be provided prior to protocol approval.
Protocol revision requests are returned to the protocol author via the MRAP Inbox. The author should submit revisions in a timely manner for review by the LACC or its delegates.
The protocol is approved if all revisions are appropriately addressed. Any further revisions required will be identified and returned to the author with guidance.
Fully-Affiliated University Institution - AUP Review Process
If all animal work will be performed at one of the affiliated Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN) institutions and is funded by a grant administered by U of T, a simplified protocol must be submitted in MRAP.
An approved AUP from the affiliated institution where the animal work takes place needs to be uploaded. The uploaded protocol is not reviewed by a U of T LACC, but is kept on record as evidence that the funds being released are covered under an approved animal protocol from an institution that meets proper standards for animal ethics and care.
