ISRP 2024-29
From Discovery to Impact: University of Toronto’s Institutional Strategic Research Plan (ISRP) 2024-2029 is the key document that expresses our core commitments to research excellence, providing direction for supporting scholarship by identifying strategic opportunities and enabling actions. It encompasses the breadth of research taking place across our three campuses, complementing divisional and faculty research priorities.
This strategic plan is the product of an extensive consultation process that sought feedback from dozens of leadership tables within the University, as well as leaders of national and international research and innovation organizations who regularly engage with industry and government, such as Tony Gaffney (President & CEO, Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence), Dr. Janet Rossant (Chief of Research Emeritus, Senior Scientist, The Hospital for Sick Children and the President & Scientific Director, Gairdner Foundation), Stephen Toope (President & CEO, CIFAR), Professor Emeritus Alan Bernstein (former inaugural President of Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and current Director of Global Health, University of Oxford) and former University of Toronto (U of T) President Dr. David Naylor.
The plan builds upon our previous successful plans and is informed by the institutional priorities articulated in plans such as U of T’s Towards 2030 plan and the Three Priorities. The ISRP is a requirement of the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program and a non-adjudicated component of several other federal funding programs.
- Respond to general questions about U of T’s strategic research priorities
- Respond to specific questions from faculty members about how they fit into the plan for purposes of applying to certain grant programs (e.g., the Canada Research Chairs program and Canada Foundation for Innovation require applicants to describe how their research fits into the ISRP)
