Selective Enhancement of Electrical Nerve Excitability

Electrical neuromodulation is an effective therapy for treating chronic disorders such as urinary dysfunction, Parkinson’s disease, and pain. Although the current generation of implanted devices is widely accepted clinically, there is significant market interest in developing less-invasive methods of electrically activating the nervous system. The successful implementation of such an approach could significantly reduce the overall cost of therapy, and also capture a larger population of patients (e.g., mild to moderate symptoms) who would otherwise forgo this mode of treatment.
