Join us for an in-depth workshop on research procurement designed to equip research administrators with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate complex research purchasing processes. This session will deepen your understanding of open competitive procurement, including RFPs, RFQs, RFSQs, and RFIs, and guide you in applying them effectively and in compliance with institutional and legislative requirements. Stay up to date on key procurement legislation such as BOBIA (Building Ontario Business Initiative Act), the PRP (Procurement Restriction Policy), and the ACAN (Advance Contract Award Notice). Whether you are new to research procurement or looking to refine your expertise, this workshop offers practical resources to clarify roles and responsibilities, streamline workflows, and support informed decision-making in research-related purchases.

  1. Effectively apply procurement strategies and successfully follow processes, specifically the Open Competitive Procurement including when and how to apply RFP (Request for Proposal), RFQ (Request for Quote), RFSQ (Request for Supplier Qualification), and RFI (Request for Information) methods
  2. Recall the phases, roles, and compliance requirements involved in initiating and managing procurement processes for research related purchases
  3. Understand and comply with current procurement legislation and regulations such as the BOBIA (Building Ontario Business Initiative Act), the Procurement Restriction Policy, and the ACAN (Advance Contract Award Notice)
  4. Find and use essential procurement tools and resources, such as templates, U of T supplier network, and customs broker to streamline procurement activities and make informed decisions in their day-to-day roles
